This is an Italian classic that everyone loves, and if you wish, you can add other ingredients - guanciale, bacon, mushrooms, canned fish, olives, or fresh cheese... whatever you like.

GNOCCHI WITH TOMATO SAUCE
You will need:
500 g gnocchi (homemade or store-bought)
1 can of peeled tomatoes
1 small onion
2 cloves of garlic
a pinch of sugar or ½ teaspoon honey
1 teaspoon salt
herbs (thyme, oregano, basil, bay leaf, rosemary...)
olive oil
cheese as desired
Preparation:
Heat olive oil in a pan, add finely chopped onion, let it brown, then add pressed garlic. Add sugar or honey and caramelize it. Add the peeled tomatoes, thyme, basil, oregano and/or other herbs, and salt. Cook for about 10 minutes, breaking up the tomatoes into smaller pieces. Season further if needed. Cook the gnocchi and finish them in the sauce. Serve sprinkled with cheese as desired.
