Since it opened at the beginning of the year, we have been faithfully following the work and growth of the Split bakery Shtruca on the social network Instagram. What we especially like is the attention to detail, but also the fact that the focaccias and cinnamon rolls prepared by Andrea Mušura often make us smell them through the screen. Behind Shtruca, therefore, stands a former architect who found her love in dough, and today already has her loyal customers who gladly buy bread, focaccias, and cinnamon rolls from her, for which she is now widely known.
Her Shtruca is only a production site where customers come and collect their products, but that‘s not a problem, when they know well that each one is handmade from the simplest ingredients such as water, flour, a little olive oil, and an occasional addition if it’s focaccia. The offer changes, so if you want to order some of her products, it’s best to follow her on social media, where she regularly posts exactly what she offers in her small bakery. Every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday her bread is available for open sale and it needs to be ordered no later than the day before. Pick-up is at the production site at the Brda market.
The focaccia, which we have already heard praised from several sources, is made from white flour and with the addition of olives, rosemary, and coarse salt or tomatoes, while classic bread comes in several varieties. Customers can usually choose and order white, mixed (whole wheat and white flour), just whole wheat, spelt, rye, corn, baguette, or milk bread, but new items like buckwheat bread or various pastries and sweets often appear on the menu.
It’s also worth adding that Andrea is the winner of one of the seasons of the cooking show 3, 2, 1, cook!, and after she became interested in making sourdough bread, she completed bakery training and did an internship at a hotel on Brač. You can find out more about her brand here.
