From a young age, Duje Sirić (29) could not escape the hospitality industry. He grew up surrounded by the smell of the sea, beach bar cuisine and the colorful tourist season. His father Damir was the owner of the iconic White Horse disco in Scott Bay, as well as a beach bar, a dancer and a pedal boat and kayak rental company. Even as a teenager, Duje helped in the family business, first in the beach bar and then in the nightclub, gaining valuable experience that would later help him in his career.
A long-time kickboxer, a member of the Croatian national kickboxing team for many years and the owner of the "Frankopan" club in Kraljevica, where he still trains children and adult recreational athletes, he faced uncertainty during the pandemic, and it is interesting that his first entrepreneurial step was not in the hospitality industry, but rather in running hair salons that he bought from friends.
"At the very beginning we have fast food and ice cream, and in the extension there is a beach bar and restaurant. We have a wide range of drinks, but the focus is on cocktails and spritzes, various brandies and gins. We have a collaboration with a Croatian brand that produces brandies and gins itself. In addition to wines and champagnes, we also have a lot of Croatian winemakers. As for food, we serve finger food, risotto, pasta, tuna tartare, meat, fish. The menu is not large, but there is something for everyone, the tourist section has pins, burgers, but you can also eat nicely," says Duje.
Special attention was paid to the decoration of the space. The visual identity is the work of a young Rijeka resident Eva Nekić, an architect who turned his vision into reality. VIBE is designed in a Mediterranean style with boho details, in neutral tones. White and beige dominate, while instead of classic tables and chairs, the space is abundant with canopies and deck chairs.
"Wherever you sit, you feel relaxed. That‘s what we wanted, a place we would go to ourselves when we were on vacation," says Duje.
VIBE beach club & kitchen is open every day from 10:00 to 24:00, making it the perfect place for a morning coffee by the sea, afternoon cocktails, and evening relaxation with music and a good atmosphere.
Plans for the future are ambitious. Next year, their goal is to put the beach in Selce under concession, decorate it and expand the content. But that‘s not all, Duje also announces a new project: a large beach bar on Jadrija, not far from Šibenik.
Despite his work, which often lasts from morning to night, Duje always finds time for what fulfills him – friends, the sea and travel. "I love Andalusia and the boat. Everything that has to do with the sea," he concludes with a smile.
