Just 45 minutes from Zagreb, discover a riverside haven of music, sports, family fun, and standout street food.

Living Room on the River, an event that has been held for five years at the beautiful city beach location in Ozalj, opened this week. Just a 45-minute drive from Zagreb, you immerse yourself in a completely different world where, in addition to incredible natural beauty, a rich cultural and sports program and an interesting gastronomic offer await you. The goal of this event, made possible by the Kupa Area Tourist Board and the City of Ozalj, together with Medvedgrad Brewery and the company Izvan fokusa, is to raise awareness of the protection and natural beauty of rivers through the organization of various activities.

In its fifth edition, Living Room on the River brings acoustic performances by the river, workshops, storytelling and plays for children, exhibitions and book presentations, stand-up comedy, culinary workshops, and quizzes by Mario Kovač, as well as organized sports programs, demonstration sports training, swimming schools, and kayaking excursions. From the June program, be sure to highlight the guest appearance of Q’ART in your neighborhood on Saturday, June 7, and the OZ Craft Beer Festival taking place from June 13 to 15.

To make your stay in nature as pleasant as possible, numerous amenities are available to visitors, such as free parking, showers, and changing cabins. Special attention has been given to the youngest, who have access to a sandy entry into the water, as well as to pets, who have their own special beach. It is important to note that from the start of the swimming season, the Karlovac Water Rescue Club is at the disposal of both young and adult swimmers. Sports enthusiasts will surely be delighted by the sandy volleyball court, as well as the possibility to rent kayaks and canoes. For those who prefer a true, "inactive" rest, there are perfect spots for picnics and sunbathing.

Whether you prefer to spend quality time doing sports activities or with a good book, you won‘t be indifferent to the gastronomic offer, vouched for by anyone who has visited Snackhouse Oz, the riverside beach bar that raises the bar even when it comes to seaside beach bars. Street food prepared from top-quality ingredients is the shortest description of the concept that immediately delighted many food lovers upon its opening last year and established itself as a must-visit spot. Several types of burgers, Mex tortillas, Tortilla falafel wrap, Caprese salad, Gyoza, Crispy chicken bites, and small fries, as well as fries with truffle sauce or with crispy bacon and Aurora sauce, are reason enough to head to the Living Room on the River. Sweet lovers are also considered, with Lava cake, Apple crumble, and Tiramisu on offer. At Snackhouse Oz, nothing is left to chance: burger buns are supplied by Croatia‘s first "invisible" bakery Kroštula, vegetables are sourced from local family farms, and meat from farms around Samobor. Also, there is an attractive selection of non-alcoholic drinks and imaginative cocktails, Kocha kombucha and top-quality coffee, natural juices without additives and preservatives from the local OPG Sokić Sokić, as well as numerous craft beers and local wines.
